The Design Modelling Symposium Berlin 2019 "Impact: Design with all Senses" will be held at University of the Arts Berlin, Germany. Workshops: 21 - 22 September 2019, Conference: 23 - 25 September 2019.

The Conference highlights four areas:

AREA I: MULTI-PHYSICS MODELLING: New Simulations Methods and Technologies

  • Integrating different models of kinds of performances, how are they parameterised and interfaced with design
  • How to capture and design with and for high complexity models (ML, AI, predictive models)
  • Multi-model simulations

AREA II: PERSISTENT MODELLING:  Engaging Cycle Design

  • Integration of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in design processes, LCA for decision making
  • Discussion of parameters for LCA in spatial design, LCA as a decision parameter
  • Design tools for LCA, review methods for LCA in spatial design

AREA III: REGENERATIVE DESIGN: New Materials, Fabrication and Assembly Methods

  • Concepts for reversibility of the built environment
  • Design strategies for the reuse of materials, elements and units

AREA IV:  DESIGNING HUMAN SPACES: Intervention and Participation

  • Investigations of the social, cultural, aesthetic and philosophical contexts of spatial design
  • Testing of artistic interventions and participative processes utilising digital tools for mapping, organization, sensing, and production
  • Discussing open forms of design, and an open designing of space and cities in which design information is publicly shared
  • Examining the dynamics of spaces for artifact presentation, conservation, and exhibition, and how these can be framed as thinking spaces
