WS 1: SENSITIVE ROBOTICS

BRIDGING IMPROVISATION TO AUTOMATION

This workshop proposes to explore a non-standard process by simultaneously design and fabricate in the same time. Generative algorithm, real time robotic reconfigurable and feedbacks loops is used to generate shape and robotic procedure.

The final geometry is the result of a serie of iteration, each one considering the previous operation to engage the next procedure (connecting, deviation etc...) without damaging the integrity of the existing extrusion.

The composite gel extrusion technique affords the ability to print in any direction, complex shape with- out the need of conventional processes like injection molding, casting, milling etc ... The polymer gel act like mould and keep the material in place until it’s cure .

Engaging, this process involves novel approch of design by encoded robotic and generative process to create intricate and unique object.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The workshop would be open to current architecture and design students, PhD candidates and professionals. The participant should have a good knowledge in grasshop- per but robotic/processing/visualStudio programming experience is not require.

 

OUTPUT
Each partipant/group will have to produce one prototype (30x30x30cm) and one A2 per project.

PROGRAMME

DAY 1:

09:00 - 11:00 hrs: Seminars and lecture series support the key objectives of the workshop, disseminating fundamental computational and robotic techniques

11:00 - 13:00 hrs: Introduction and tutorials for robotic programming with TACO gh plugin
13:00 - 14:00 hrs: Lunch breack
14:00 - 16:00 hrs: Introduction and tutorials to iterative design process with Anemone gh plugin / Processing / VisualStudio C#
16:00 - 19:00 hrs: Personalized tutorials for each participant acording to there project

 

DAY 2:

09:00 - 11:00 hrs: Finalization/Personalized tutorials of each project

11:00 - 13:00 hrs: Fabrication
13:00 - 14:00 hrs: Lunch breack

15:00 - 18:00 hrs: A2 presentation elaboration
